Customs Clearance in Ukraine
Import entries into Ukraine are administered by State Customs Service of Ukraine. Cargo typically sits 5–15 days at the gateway before release, and most of that window is documentation rather than physical inspection. What we do on the entry
- Classification. We agree the HS heading before the cargo sails, not after it lands. A heading argued at the border costs storage every day it runs.
- Valuation. We build the customs value the way Ukraine expects it — including or excluding freight and insurance according to the local rule, with the supporting evidence attached.
- Entry filing and duty settlement. Lodged in the consignee's name or, where the market allows it, under our own importer arrangement.
- Release and onward delivery. Terminal release, any inspection attendance, and delivery to the door if you want the movement quoted duty-paid.
What actually holds shipments here
No direct air service; all air cargo routes overland from a neighbouring EU country. War-risk surcharges and insurance conditions apply. Confirm the current status of the Black Sea corridor before committing to a sea routing.
None of that is unusual, but all of it is easier to resolve before the container sails than after it arrives.
How the lane behaves
Ukrainian civil airspace is closed, so there is no direct air option — time-critical cargo flies to Warsaw, Rzeszów or Bucharest and completes by road. Sea cargo can move through the Black Sea corridor to Odesa, but many shippers still prefer Gdańsk or Constanța plus a truck leg for predictability. War-risk insurance and route conditions must be confirmed at the time of booking.
